Kazakhs had a concept of seven treasures that included a bird of prey – the eagle - and a dog - the steppe hound. A man who possessed them was considered fortunate, because not everyone on the steppe could boast such wealth. And if the dog had all the qualities of a good hunter, and the bird of prey was reputed to be excellent forager, the glory of their master traveled far over the steppe and was on everyone’s lips.
