Kok Bori (Heavenly Wolf) is a sacred concept for all Turks. According to ancient myths, the Wolf is the progenitor of the Turkic people and is one of the main totem symbols of nomads - inhabitants of the Great Steppe. The image of the Heavenly Wolf adorned the flags of Turkic rulers - Kagans, and inspired them for new conquests. It is believed that the words "wolf" and "Turkic ruler" were synonymous in ancient times. The wolf was a symbol of freedom and fearlessness, the hallmark of a brave leader.
