According to legend, a wise man at the hour of death managed to turn his valuable knowledge into a beautiful melody effused into a dombra. People fearing to lose such wealth bound the instrument’s fret with cords and pulled the two strings. Since then, every song played on the dombra carries a bit of the elder’s wisdom. The instrument Zhetigen has a poetic legend of its origin. She tells about a father who lost 7 sons in the war. In their honor, he created Zhetygen. Zhetygen has a magical voice, for which the girls fell in love with him. The melody played on it is very gentle and sincere.
