In the history of Kazakh philosophy, Korkyt Ata is a public figure who promoted unity of the people, a sage thinker who founded the Turkic worldview, and a humanist philosopher who occupied an important place in world culture. Legend tells that even in youth Korkyt could not be reconciled with the transience of human life, so he decided to fight against the inevitable death. Tormented by dreams of immortality, he hewed the first kobyz from wood, stretched the strings on it and played it, pouring out his painful thoughts and feelings. The wonderful sounds of his strings sounded throughout the world, reached the people and capitvated them. From that time on, Korkyt’s melodies and the kobyz he created went on to roam the earth, and the name Korkyt was immortalized in the kobyz strings and in people’s hearts. This panel was created based on the work of the famous artist, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Agymsaly Duzelkhanov.
